The Piper family have always shared their lives with dogs - many dogs of all sorts of shapes and sizes.
Lorna has been heavily involved in training dogs for over 20 years, starting all those years ago with a Dalmation, Saxon.  Lorna has also had trialling success in obedience, agility, jumping, tracking and endurance competitions with German Shepherds, Border collies and a Papillon.
Kerrie has been training dogs for over 18 years.  Initially starting out with a border collie labrador cross, she has since owned only border collies.  Kerrie's dogs have achieved success in obedience, tracking, endurance, agility, jumping, games, herding and now canine freestyle and heelwork to music.  Kerrie is a registered veterinarian with a special interest in veterinary behavioural medicine.

Founded in 2007, Nyanga Kennels is still a fresh young breeding establishment.  We aim to create happy, healthy, sound in temperament and keen working border collies.  Our borders are bred to perform and undergo regular veterinary assessments to ensure they remain in peak physical condition.

Please enjoy our photos.

Our breeding dogs have been tested CEA, NCL, TNS and MDR1 mutation clear (normal for Collie Eye Anomaly, Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis, Trapped Neutrophil Syndrome and the ivomec sensitivity genetic mutation).  We are Accredited Breeders with Genetic Technologies Australia (http://www.animalnetwork.com.au/breeders/) Each of our puppies are examined by a veterinary opthalmologist.  Hip and elbow scores (AVA) are available.

We strive to avoid inbreeding.  We research pedigrees before mating to minimise inbreeding.  Inbred dogs are known to have an increased potential for recessive ('hidden') genetic diseases.
